✈️ Initial Situation

The traveler left their backpack in the overhead storage area on a highway bus.
After contacting the bus company, they were able to confirm that the item had been found and was being held.
However, the bus company required coordination for collection and shipping.
Since the traveler had already left Japan, it was not possible to retrieve the item in person.
At this stage, the main challenge was arranging collection and determining the most practical way to return the belongings.

🔍 Step 1: Contacting the Bus Company and Retrieving the Backpack

We first contacted the bus company to confirm the item details and storage status.
Based on the information provided by the traveler, we were able to identify the bag and arrange a pickup.
After coordinating the schedule, we successfully collected the backpack.
Photos were shared with the traveler to confirm that the correct item had been retrieved.
In this case, since the item location was already known, the focus was on accurate coordination and smooth collection.

🕵️ Step 2: Checking the Contents and Preparing for Shipment

After retrieving the backpack, we checked the contents to prepare for international shipping.
Since the bag contained various personal belongings, we worked with the traveler to confirm what should be included in the shipment and proceeded accordingly.
This step helps ensure that the shipment remains practical and avoids unnecessary complications during transport.

🚚 Step 3: Selecting a Shipping Method and Sending the Package

Initially, FedEx was considered as a shipping option.
However, based on the traveler’s request, we also explored EMS (Japan Post) as a more cost-effective alternative.
Because the shipment included battery-powered devices, we carefully confirmed whether EMS could be used under current regulations.
After verifying the conditions, we confirmed that EMS was a viable option and proceeded with shipping.
The package was then sent to Australia, and all necessary preparations were completed before dispatch.

✅ Final Outcome

The case was successfully completed with the following steps:
  • Backpack collected from the bus company
  • Contents checked and prepared for shipment
  • Shipping method adjusted based on the situation
  • Package shipped to Australia via EMS
  • Delivered successfully without customs issues
The traveler later confirmed that the package arrived safely and was not opened or delayed during customs clearance.
